Deadly police operation after knife threat

Mannheim - A police officer is still fighting for his life after the Mannheim knife attack on Friday, which left six people injured.

On Saturday afternoon, an incident occurred on Johann Schütte-Straße in Mannheim. According to the police, a man threatened a woman with a knife. Police officers were called to the scene and tried to subdue the man. During the course of the operation, the man was shot and killed.

This is the second fatal police shooting in Mannheim in recent months. In May 2022, two police officers were shot and killed during an operation on Marktplatz.

The State Prosecutor's Office and the State Criminal Police Office are investigating the incident.
